According to Colonial Life, this is killing the employees' morale and productivity in the workplace — and also costing employers billions in the process which has also been proved by the Canadian Policy Research Networks that stress-related absences cost employers about $3.5 billion each year (Duxbury and Higgins 2001).

Some key findings are:

  • Overall employee stress levels “have risen nearly 20% in three decades”.

  • 76% of respondents said workplace stress “had a negative impact on their personal relationships”.

  • 66% have lost sleep due to work-related stress.

  • 16% have quit jobs because stress became too overwhelming.

...what can we do to prevent it?
